The Safety of Our Food Supply is at Risk.

This year, Pakistan was placed 92nd out of 116 countries in the Global Hunger Index (GHI). The country's hunger level is classified as'serious' with a score of 24.7. On a regional basis, Pakistan is better positioned than India (ranked 101), whereas Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, two near regional neighbours, rank 76 and 65, respectively, and outshine Pakistan. GHI aims to mobilise global action in the fight against hunger. Undernourishment, child wasting, child stunting, and the under-five mortality rate are among the four indicators included in the index. While 37.6% of children are stunted, Pakistan has reduced the proportion of the population that is undernourished to 12.9 percent from 21.1 percent in 2000. Pakistan has also succeeded in reducing the percentage prevalence of wasting in under-five children from 14.1 percent in 2000 to 7.1 percent in 2020. "As the year 2030 approaches, achievement of the world's commitment to Zero Hunger seems painfully distant,...

Causes And Impacts Of Over-population

Image
Over-Population Overpopulation discussions can rapidly devolve into a squabble because they raise the question of who is to blame for the situation and what, if anything, should be done about it. Many population experts are concerned that discussions about overpopulation will be abused by small-minded people to suggest that some people are "the right people" to be on the planet (like themselves) and others are "the wrong people" (usually poor people, people of colour, foreigners, and so on—you get the picture). However, there are no "good" or "wrong" individuals on the world, and debating the issues of global overpopulation should never be used as an excuse or a platform for having such a discussion. When we say "overpopulation," we're referring to a situation in which the Earth's resources cannot be replenished each year to meet the demands of the world's population. According to experts, this has been the case every year si...

Various Elements Causing the Rise of Unemployment / The Burdens of Being Unemployed

Image
What is Unemployment? Unemployment is a circumstance in which a person who is actively looking for job is unable to find work. Unemployment is seen as a significant indicator of the economy's health. The unemployment rate, which is calculated by dividing the number of jobless persons by the total number of people in the labour force, is the most used measure of unemployment. Many governments provide unemployment insurance to select unemployed people who meet certain criteria. Unemployment is a key economic indicator because it indicates workers' ability (or inability) to find gainful employment and contribute to the economy's productive output. People who quit the workforce for other reasons, such as retirement, higher education, or disability, are not included. With more unemployed employees, total economic production will be lower than it would be otherwise. During their unemployment, unemployed workers must maintain at least subsistence consumption. This indicates that ...

What is Poverty? What Causes of Poverty?

Image
Poverty Poverty is the state of not having enough money or material possessions to live comfortably. Poverty is defined as a state of being unable to meet one's basic necessities. In this context, determining what constitutes basic necessities is necessary before identifying poor people. These can be defined as "those necessary for survival" or more broadly as "those reflecting the community's predominant standard of living." The first criterion would apply exclusively to individuals on the verge of famine or death from exposure; the second would apply to those whose nourishment, housing, and clothes, while adequate for survival, fall short of those of the general population. The difficulty of definition is exacerbated by the noneconomic connotations that the term poverty has acquired. Poor health, a lack of education or skills, an inability or unwillingness to work, high rates of disruptive or disorderly behaviour, and improvidence have all been linked to p...
